Resource Protection and Biodiversity Conservation
State project management unit has taken special interest on resource protection and biodiversity conservation through a well thought out mass campaign strategy. Conventional mass campaign tools like message and information based banners and hoardings are on display for public consumption both at Digha and Sagar Island. English as well vernacular media has been used to broad base the reach of the message.
ZSI which has been working as a PEA to this project also contributes to the resource protection and biodiversity conservation front through its training programmes for both the coastal community and officers dealing with coastal plans and policies. The modernization of the marine aquarium at Digha actually endeavours towards creation awareness and sensitivity towards conservation of biodiversity for the sake of sustainable development and maintaining the balance of the coastal ecosystem.
The Mangrove Plantation activity by the Forest Directorate with the aid of the coastal community in the coastal blocks of East Midnapore district will enrich the the marine biota like crab, fish and birds etc. as mangroves in the bio-shield area provides the breeding ground for them.
